Spain took an early lead after Javi Guerra delivered a wicked cross into the box that struck the post. Mateo Joseph picked up the rebound, found Diego López, and the Valencia CF winger laid it off perfectly for Pubill to slot home. Spain pushed for a winner in the closing stages at the National Stadium in Bratislava, coming close through Moleiro and Javi Guerra, only to be denied by Slovak goalkeeper Belko.
