'Unleash The Roar' project from Singapore visits the VCF Academy

Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Singapore Football Federation paid a visit to the Ciudad Deportiva to learn about the Valencia CF methodology and meet first team coach Gennaro Gattuso

Football, development and a very established philosophy of core values. That is what makes Valencia CF and the VCF Academy different. A project focused on the integral development of footballers for the ELITE which turns the VCF Academy into one of the best in Europe according to the latest CIES Football Observatory reports.

The club's development plan is highly rated both nationally and internationally, and has been used to boost the national project of Singapore, 'Unleash the Roar', which promotes football and uses the sport to inspire citizens of the Asian country.

A group of members from Unleash the Roar visited the Ciudad Deportiva last week to learn the methodology of the VCF Academy first-hand, as well as the project of core values and its philosophy, Sentiment, Bravery and Fellowship.

“What has impressed me the most is the dedication that the VCF Academy has to develop players as people,” explains Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. “I think the most important thing is the values that are being taught at Valencia CF."

Formative session

Mr. Chua, together with Bernart Tan, president of the Singapore Football Federation, participated in a training session together with Javier Solís, Corporate Director of Valencia CF, Luis Martínez, Director of the VCF Academy and representatives of the different departments at the club, who presented the methodology.

In addition the representatives of the Unleash The Roar project had the opportunity to enjoy a meeting with Valencia CF coach Gennaro Gattuso.

Also present were Philippe Aw, assistant technical director of the Singapore Football Federation; Ray Zhang, executive director of Unleash The Roar; Benjamin Tan, project manager of the League Transformation for Unleash The Roar; Justin Tan, assistant director of Unleash The Roar; Toh Jun Hao, manager of the MCCY Sports Division; and Unleash The Roar member Shahrany Hassan.

30th anniversary of Ciutat Esportiva

The presence of Unleash The Roar members at the VCF Academy joins the multiple visits from coaches and international entities that every season visit the Ciudad Deportiva. 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the official inauguration of the Ciudad Deportiva facilities which took place on the 19th of February 1992.

During this time, it has not stopped growing in terms of the available resources and the improvement of the working methodology to train football players for the elite and educate the nearly 450 boys and girls who train every day on their playing pitches after the full integration of the entire women's structure in the VCF Academy and in the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna.

In these 30 years, there are more than 100 players who, having trained at the VCF Academy, have debuted in an official match with the first team, six of them this season: César Tárrega, Cristhian Mosquera, Rubén Iranzo, Javi Guerra, Jesús Santiago Yellu and Mario Dominguez.
