🎦 Sobrino: "We are very united as a team and need to be until the end"

The striker is looking forward to this Sunday's game against AD Alcorcón

Striker Rubén Sobrino sees the Copa del Rey as a good opportunity to show his skills on a personal level, and also a chance for the team to continue a winning dynamic. Ahead of the team's latest challenge, against AD Alcorcón, he sat down with VCF Media to chat about the competition.

"The Copa del Rey is a completely different competition to LaLiga. Whenever you win, it's a boost for the dressing room. The win against Yeclano made us happier and more focused. The cup also gives minutes to those of us who aren't playing as much in LaLiga," said the forward, who added that "I think it was important for us taking the three points against Valladolid."

"It's a very nice competition. In my first season here I was lucky enough to play in that edition of the Copa del Rey. It was something very exciting. I think that we have to pay just as much attention to the Copa del Rey as LaLiga."

Opponents AD Alcorcón are struggling in the Segunda División at the moment, but Sobrino knows all about their potential for giantkilling.

"We've seen very different situations over the years in football, in which teams playing in the Copa del Rey against a Segunda, Segunda B or Tercera División side find it hard. Playing at home is always going to favour the home side, as it is where they normally play and where they know the dimensions," he warned.

"Those teams give their all, because for many teams the chance to play against Valencia CF is something incredible. They are going to give their all and they are going to compete. The side that is the most focused, and which competes the best, will be the side who win.

"Playing against Alcorcón away has always been tough. Going through would make everybody happy, whether they play a lot of minutes or not. It would help the team to feel good. We all like winning. The more games that you play, the more chance you have of improving as a team."
