Match Report: VCF Mestalla prevail over Orihuela FC in preseason friendly (2-1)

VCF Mestalla played their tenth preseason friendly against Orihuela FC a side that shares the same subgroup with. VCF Mestalla picked up their fifth preseason win.

There was a lightning quick start to the game which saw VCF Mestalla come out of the blocks quickly with a beautiful link-up play down the left wing between Adrián Gómez Pablo Gozálbez and  Nacho Muñoz who whipped the ball in the box into Fran Navarro who bundled it home  from point blank range to give VCF Mestalla the lead.

With the go-ahead goal, they pulled up the shutters to stop Orihuela FC’s momentum in search of an equaliser. Their dominance brought about their first shot on target Doriano headed Orihuela FC back level.

However, VCF Mestalla responded immediately at the other end with another well-worked move down the left another Nacho Muñoz inviting ball into the box into Pablo Gozálbez who scored at the second time of asking to put VCF Mestalla back in front.

Nacho Muñoz came close to adding a third goal minutes later but the first half finished 2-1 for Valencia CF Mestalla.

The opposition came out in the second half looking to equailise dominating possession with VCF Mestalla looking to break and they almost made it 3-1 but an Orihuela FC defender cleared it off the line.

The opposition pushed for an equaliser in the closing minutes but VCF Mestalla stood firm defensively to come away with another pre-season win two weeks away from the start of the competition.
