Winger Hélder Costa spoke to VCF MEDIA this week about how a return to winning ways has helped the team to work hard for the upcoming encounters.
Turning things around
We had been on a run of results that was not very good, and the team wanted to change that. We did it against Villarreal. We are convinced that we can put together a streak of good results from now on.
We had come into the game on a bad run. The team had been working hard and I think we deserved a victory to turn things around. Fortunately, that happened in the last game, and now we have to look forward and continue improving.
A boost in morale
It is clear that the team are better when we win. That winning spirit continues in our group, because the team are working hard and are strong. Now we have to keep growing and get good results.
The team have already showed from the beginning that we had that ability, but we had lost it a little in the last few games. Now that we have found it again, we cannot let it escape. We have to continue with the same defensive solidity that we had in the last game and continue from there.
Sunday's game against Atletico Madrid
We know that the game will be of the highest difficulty. Atletico Madrid are a great team, but Valencia CF are also a great team and we are going to play to get the three points. The fans have always been behind us and they have not let the bad streak of results affect them, so we are counting on their support for the next game.
The fans
It is a great fanbase that supports the team. I have already seen that when the team gives everything, the fans do not let us drop our heads. They are always there, from start to finish, like in the game against Mallorca when we managed to draw near the end. They are always there, supporting us, and that is felt by the team. We are all together. We are all pushing as one on the pitch, and we will fight to achieve our objectives.
Adapting to Valencia CF
On a personal level I feel better here. I was not in a good situation and Valencia CF gave me the opportunity to restart my career and enjoy playing football again.
I think this is the ideal place to do that and my teammates have welcomed me in a very positive way, making me feel like I had been part of the team for a long time. I have to work every day to try to contribute and try to rise to the challenge.
