Soler: "The fans were impeccable and helped us a lot"
Carlos Soler spoke to VCF Media after Valencia CF's 1-0 win over Girona FC. The midfielder highlighted the support of the fans and noted the similarities with the first league game of last season.
A good start
I'm happy about the victory and the three points, for the team and for the fans, who were impeccable and helped us a lot.
A similar first game to last season
It was similar in terms of the result, my penalty goal and the sending-off. Last year we had a sending-off in the first minute and we struggled more. We worked well today and they had hardly any chances.

Almost 40,000 fans at Mestalla
I'm very grateful to the fans. When Eray was sent off, it seemed like we still had 11 men thanks to them. They helped us a lot.
Effectiveness from the penalty spot
Penalties and set pieces are things that we practice in training and, although I scored every penalty I took last year, you can always improve. I keep practicing them and hopefully this streak will continue.

A complete performance
I think we did well in the first half, and we pressed high almost all the time. The goal came from a recovery by Eray. It was an evenly matched first half and the second half was affected by the sending off, but we managed to hold on. In the end, we achieved three points that help us to cope with this week much better and make us happier.
