Get to know Carlos Corberán better
Review his career here: his training in Spain and his journey through Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Greece and England.
Alessandro Florenzi will be the tenth Italian player to turn out for Valencia CF in an official game, as he joins the club on loan from AS Roma. He follows in the footsteps of Amadeo Carboni, his fellow countryman who is the Italian with the most appearances in a VCF shirt.
What is Florenzi like?
“He’s a very responsible player, very serious, and he has true passion for what he does. He’s a player who always gives his all on the pitch, who runs and tries his hardest, besides helping his teammates.”
What is it like to move from AS Roma to Valencia CF?
“For him, it’s a step up in quality, because Valencia CF are a very big team on a technical level and have been playing in Europe a lot over the past 20 years. They have contested finals, won trophies and are a very important club.”
Florenzi has character.
“Of course. He’s a guy who gives his all and helps out the team. He does a lot of work on the pitch for the team and isn’t individualistic.”
He has been a right back, but also played in other positions.
“He started out as a winger, but through necessity he was converted into a right back and it has gone very well for them, because he’s been called up to the national team and played over 200 games for AS Roma.”
Do you think Mestalla will like him?
“I think that the style the fans like is the same as how he plays. He might have a bad game here or there, but I’m sure that nobody will be able to criticise him for a lack of effort.”
He has played 18 games, but hasn’t been playing as much as expected. Will this be motivation for him?
“I think that it’s a big stimulus to be able to get out of his home city, where he was a captain, and come to a team who are soon to play in the Last 16 of the Champions League, and who are fighting for the Top 4 in LaLiga.”
What advice would you give him?
“That for an Italian coming here, it is paradise.”
